道德经英译学习第六章
谷神不死，是谓“玄牝”。
玄牝之门，是谓天地根。
绵绵若存，用之不勤。
1.谷神喻道，山谷生水，奔流入海永不停息，就像道一样，所以这里的谷神是道的具象的拟人化。看了几个译本都译为valleyspirit，不知道老外看到valleyspirit是否能get到这个比喻。
2.玄牝，玄是深奥，牝指雌性动物的标志，玄牝喻道是万物之母。多个译者译为mysticalfemale，也有译者直接译为mysticalwomb.
3.绵绵若存，体现道连绵不绝而又柔弱的特性，看了好几版译文，感觉都没能译出中文所能表达的意境，这大概是中英文文化差异所带来的局限性。
